the journey- Our Armor
Thursday Step by step Devotional
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” -Ephesians 6:10-11
We all go through trials in life. The word even tells us we will go through tests and trials. Why? Because we live in a sinful world with fallible humans that make sinful choices/ actions and those sin can affect us.
Last year, I did a series on the Armor of God and went through each piece in study. This year, I am more aware of how to use the armor in battle and yes it’s a battle we live in. We need to go to the Word first in all things and occasionally we can find an extra nugget that I feel God gives and it’s like, YES!!!!! This poem below is one I came across by Jessika Sanders that is just to good not to share. I hope it blesses you as it does me.
“Today I choose to be a warrior, not a worrier”
Today I choose to put on the armor of God.
The belt of truth sits firmly on my hips.
The breastplate of justice covers my heart.
The shield of faith rests on my forearm.
The helmet of salvation sits atop my head.
And the sword of the spirit is gripped tightly in my hand.
With His discernment
I recognize the barrage of lies sent by the enemy.
You’ll never love again.
You’re not cut out for this.
You’re going to struggle. Alone. Forever.
Ping. Ping. Ping.
With the swift movements of my shield
I deflect each of his flaming arrows.
I rest in my faith. I rest in His truth.
For I know the plans the Lord has for me,
plans to prosper and not to harm me,
plans to give me hope and a future.
I take a brief pause to catch my breath
and the onslaught continues.
With my sword
I powerfully cut through each lie he hisses.
You’re not pretty enough.
Slash.
Truth: I am wonderfully made.
You’re not loved.
Slash.
Truth: I am loved with an everlasting love.
You’ll never succeed.
Slash.
Truth: I am created with a purpose.
And slowly he begins to retreat,
realizing his efforts are futile.
He accepts his defeat,
for he is no match for this warrior,
for this Daughter of the Most High King.
Sweet sister, I pray that each time the devil tries to whisper lies into your ear that you’ll be reminded of the encouragement that Ephesians 6:10-20 provides. I pray that you will pick up the sword of the spirit and swiftly cut through the lies, revealing God’s truth for you and your life. I pray that you’ll boldly speak His truth aloud and that you’ll repeat them until you believe them.
