Monday's Prayer Closet: In Jesus' Name
When I first heard this song, I knew there had to be a devotional on it. This was before I even came back to ministry. There are just some songs that you hear one time and know that they are going to be a tried-and-true favorite, that they are going to minster. Katy Nichole's song In Jesus Name is that kind of song. Why? Because it IS a prayer! This is just what we talked about last week, a prayer that is sung as our worship.
In Jesus' Name (God of Possible)
I speak the name of Jesus over you
In your hurting, in your sorrow
I will ask my God to move
I speak the name 'cause it's all that I can do
In desperation, I'll seek Heaven
And pray this for you
I speak the name of all authority
Declaring blessings, every promise
He is faithful to keep
I speak the namе no grave could ever hold
Hе is greater, He is stronger
He's the God of possible
[Chorus]
I pray for your healing, that circumstances would change
I pray that the fear inside would flee in Jesus' name
I pray that a breakthrough would happen today
I pray miracles over your life in Jesus' name
In Jesus' name
When we pray in Jesus' name, we are praying what Jesus would pray. Why? Because He is our Lord and Savior, we are his followers.
John 13:14 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
But James 4:3 tells us: “You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions”
In Jesus' name is not a magic saying, you are not forcing God's hand in your situation. What you are doing is 1) we are acknowledging Jesus' intercession for us, that He is with the Father right now. and 2) we are not coming to the Father on our own merit or works but with confidence that we are coming and submitting to His will.
