This little light of mine.

This little light o’ mine, I’m goin’ let it shine (hold up your finger)

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Evrywhere I go, I’m goin’ let it shine (repeat)

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Hide it under ( cover your finger)bushel? No!

I'm goin let it shine

Don't let satan (blow) it out!

I'm goin to let it shine

Let it shine, all the time, let it shine

.... this is one of my childhood memories, singing this song in Sunday school. I can remember sitting in a chair up against a cement block blue wall at the YMCA where our little church had services. The classroom was on the second floor and I was wearing a flower dress with yarn Pom Poms in my hair.

To this day, the word that was planted, through that song as a child, in my heart never left me. I have lived every day knowing I was to be light. Now there are many times that light seemed very dim, okay, very very dim, but it was never extinguished no matter how many times the enemy tried to blow it out.

Here are three steps to be in the light...

1. As a believer, you are a child of God. You are in fellowship with the father though Jesus. So know your place in the body of Christ as one to shine, this is your inheritance. ( This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine) "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." ~ 1 John 1:7.

2. No matter what man says or how you may feel in hopeless situations, let the light of Jesus burns bright in you. You are called to be that light so shine brightly for all to see. Darkness cannot hid in the light. When you obey his commandments, darkness cannot over take you. (Hide it under a bushel, no! I’m gonna let it shine) the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." ~ John 1:5

3. We are all sinners and Satan likes to try to keep us under condemnation with feelings that we are not good enough for God, or we have blown it too many times. But as a child of God, we know that there is no condemnation for those that love the Lord. So hold your head up high and walk as a child of light. (Don’t let Satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine) "For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light" ~ Ephesians 5:8

"In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." ~ Matthew 5:16

Heavenly Father, we come to you with thanksgiving. Thanking you for your Son and his sacrifice. Because of his redemptive blood, we now live in the light and can be a light to others. No matter how the enemy lies and tells us we are not good enough, you remind us, that you made us just the way you wanted and with the light of Jesus in us, we are the light on a hill. May we shine so brightly that others can see and know that we have something so special that they want it too. Let us be beacons of your love and mercy in the dark places of this world and let our words and actions glorify you in all things. In Jesus name amen.
