Monday Prayer Closet- East to West (forgiveness)

Greeting sisters, for February, we are continuing our prayer focus on forgiveness. This week is daily forgiveness for the believer. We serve a holy God meaning sin cannot be in His presence. The reason He require forgiveness for our sins is that sin separates us from Him. Through the forgiveness of our sins, we are cleansed from all unrighteousness, and God justifies us. We are now a part of the family of God.

We can study this in 2 parts.

1)  Through forgiveness of our sins, He looks at us just as if we never sinned. One of the enemies' weapons is to remind us of our past sins and to condemn us so we feel unworthy to be a part of God's family thus preventing us to fulfilling God's will.

Romans 8: 1-2 tells us, therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.…

Hebrews 8:12 tells us, For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.

Isaiah 43:12 tells us, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake and will remember your sins no more.

Psalms 103: 11-13 tells us, For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving devotion for those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.…

2) Christ’s righteousness has been placed on us. This is our new reality. The old is crucified with Christ and raised up with Christ born again, and now we are living saved from our sins. God’s word instructs us to continue to deny our flesh and to repent from our sins. So our new nature requires a holiness that we now live in.  God realizes that this is a daily battle we will face. He commands us to daily crucify our old man on the cross. When we do this, he is faithful in His forgiveness daily.

Romans 7:18-19, 24-25 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.  Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Luke 9:23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Ultimately, we are changed from glory to glory. (Amp Bible) 2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.

The closer we are to God, the further away we will be to sin. To the point that when we do sin (because we will), the Holy Spirit living in us will be grieved, and we will quickly come to the Father with remorse and a repent heart; praying for forgiveness, learning from our mistakes and striving to live holy. This is the forgiveness that He gives us as His children.

Here I am, Lord, and I'm drowning in Your sea of forgetfulness
The chains of yesterday surround me, I yearn for peace and rest
I don't want to end up where You found me
And it echoes in my mind, keeps me awake tonight
I know You've cast my sin as far as the east is from the west
And I stand before You now as, as though I've never sinned
But today I feel like I'm just one mistake away from You leavin' me this way
Jesus, can You show me just how far the east is from the west?
'Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been come risin' up in me again
In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
'Cause You know just how far the east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other
I start the day, the war begins, endless reminding of my sin
And time and time again Your truth is drowned out by the storm I'm in
Today, I feel like I'm just one mistake away from You leavin' me this way
I know You've washed me white, turned my darkness into light
I need Your peace to get me through, to get me through this night
I can't live by what I feel, but by the truth Your Word reveals
You're holdin' on to me
From one scarred hand to the other
