the Journey- Be strong, fear not

Hi sisters, Sandy here with our Thursday devotional. Our scripture comes from

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he goes with you, He will not fail thee nor forsake you.
Boom!!! Mic drop!!!! Thanks for reading, lol.
Just kidding but really how powerful is that command and promise. Our faithful, powerful, loving, almighty Father, our Abba is telling us, I got your back. As it is written in Romans 8:31, ...If God is for us than who can be against us?
Did you know it was written in the Bible 36 times Be Strong?
Be Strong and possess the land
Be Strong and fear not
Be Strong in the battle
Be Strong for the Lord is with us
Be Strong and do not worry
Be Strong and do the work God has given you
Be Strong and resist temptation
Be Strong and be strengthened in the Lord
Be Strong and know that God is our protector
These are just a couple of mentions, but the promise that we are not alone is with each one of these. God knows what we are experiencing in life, what is going around us in the world both the natural and supernatural. Fear is an emotion that is nothing more than a distraction to the wonderful power of God. It tries to take our eyes off God and put it on our situations that sometimes can seem just hopeless. When we are wrapped up in fear, how can we be used for God?
A perfect example is one that I am going through right now. Because of current worldly events, my hours at work have been cut almost in half. I am or rather “was” the breadwinner in our family. My pay covered all the big bills and my hubby’s were the fun extras. But that has changed in the recent months. What could be the fear? Well, that we won’t have money for the mortgage, utilities, food, etc. Our bills have not changed, just the money coming in. How can we make it, how can we survive?
But God! Yes, but God has provided provisions and by staying in HIs word and following His leading, when this trial came, I did not fear like maybe I would have even a year or two ago. Before everything hit, my husband got a brand new job taking a lower pay, but he already had a second job that was a big blessing to us. He took this job with the prayerful hope of advancement and guess what? He got the call from HR, and they are promoting him!!! My hubby always paid extra on utilities so we don't have to worry about them for 2 months. Our kids go to the local school and they got a grant to provide all students with free lunches, we never qualified because we made too much. Now it is a wonderful blessing. We also don't go out to movies or the mall or send as frivolously as we have in the past. My new motto right now is Less is More.
So in this time of trial, my eyes did not turn away from God to my fear, but they stayed fixed on God that He will provide us with the provisions that our family needs.
So I want to encourage you to Be Strong, Fear Not for God will not fail you or forsake you.
Next week is part 2 where we will dive in a little more. Hope you have a wonderful day xoxo
