Prayer: the battle’s offense.

Greeting sisters, our prayer focus through the summer is Battle Prayers. This was placed in my heart months ago and I just can’t shake it. It started with a dream that shook me to my core, followed by attacks of the enemy that are meant to destroy. But God is so Good, the more the Emmy attacks, the more I run to my Father. So let’s get started. It’s time to rise up as prayer warriors against the enemy that is trying to destroy our families and us with our love and trust in our God.

Digging a little deeper

And (make long) talks (as a house/church/temple of prayer) to God (in word or thought) in the power of the Holy Spirit, possessed and moved by the Spirit, at every season (times of particular circumstances and occasions), talk to God earnestly and humbly in everything and in all forms of seeking, asking, pleading, and making entreaties. With this in view, with all perseverance (never stopping) be attentive, discreet, shrewd, wise and ready; and never stop petitioning for everyone set apart by God, his children, who service He uses and works through (everything we, his children do for the Kingdom of Heaven).

Extra dig

In the power of the Spirit, not ours, we are to pray all kinds of prayers ie: quiet closet prayers, group prayers, battle prayers, walking prayer, shouting prayer, on our face praying, etc. The point is that there is no “right way of man” praying that we have to follow. We just have to pray and spend the time earnestly seeking God in all situations not only for ourselves but for others.

It’s in prayer that the armor of God is activated. Through prayer, we have the spiritual strength: to buckle the belt of truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness, wield the sword of the Spirit, wear the helmet of salvation, carry the shield of faith, and cover our feet in the gospel of peace.

Praying puts us on the offense of the spiritual war that we are and will always be in while we are alive in the world. The enemy wants us to believe there is no war. But even if you are not under attack at the moment, you can be assured that you brother or sister in Christ is. Why? Because the Bible tells us. If they were not under attack then why “at all times” and not just when “ you need it” would we, his church, his temple be called to pray?

This battle is for the control of man’s life and for their eternity. And we Christians are right in the middle of it. Prayer is our strength in the battle, our chief spiritual weapon in a spiritual war. In prayer, we have 1) communion/ intimate fellowship with God (who better to be in relationship with than our conquering victorious king) 2) petition, we can come to him through our relationship with him, asking, seeking of him. And 3) intercession, where we enter the battle taking ground of what the enemy is trying to attack, kill and destroy; we enter in through the power of the Holy Spirit and with his guidance in the battle.

Simply put:

1 we are fighting a battle (spiritual and on going until our commander stops it)

2 we know our commander and he knows us, his soldier through our communication with each other (communion)

3 we come to his command post and ask him what our orders are (petition)

4 he gives us our orders, we put on our armor and we go to battle (intercession)
