 Digging in a little deeper:

Be diligent to present yourself as one of tried faith and integrity accepted by God, a teacher of Christ Jesus to others, having no cause to feel inferior/ unworthy; to teach correctly and directly, the instruction of God, His purpose in Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, and the duties of all believers.

“Digging a little deeper” was instruction that God placed on my heart to do daily. As I prayed for a deeper understanding, deeper seeds of truth that can grow in me and strengthen my walk with Him; He showed me that I can’t just read but need to study and plant his words deep in my spirit.

There is so much more depth and worth when we dive deeper into the original words of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. Resources I use for each verse consist of: NIV, KJV, Interlinear Bible, Strong’s Concordance and Dictionary, Thayer’s Greek Lexicon, Brown-Diver-Briggs Lexicon, Genesius Hebrew-Chaldea Lexicon, Webster Dictionary, Text Commentaries ie Matthew Henry, David Guzik- Enduring Word, and a few other resources. One scripture is about 45-60 mins of study.

It has been such a short time, but I already see the fruit of my new study life. There are many other ways to study from topical( pick a topic like forgiveness), character(study a person like Abraham), book ( study the book of Romans, it’s author, context, location, theme) or scripture ( this is what I am doing right now). If you don’t know where to start, then start with a scripture devotional.

The main point is to just get into the word. And no opening the Bible, closing your eyes and using your finger to point at a scripture is not the way to do it ( this is also called Biblemancy, yep not going there). Instead, pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you and give a fresh revelation to you. Then listen, maybe He will give you a book like Galatians or person like Daniel in your head to turn to or a scripture will come to mind, go there and read the whole chapter. But open it and get into the word!

This group is a place of scripture where we are digging a little deeper. Also this group is open to the public because all need to hear the Word of Truth, all need to know Jesus came for us sinners and through Him and only Him do we have eternal life. “For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting Life”. John 3:16
