The Awe of God week 6
This is the final week of note for John Bevere's The Awe of God. If I had to recommend one book, it would be this one. My walk has deepened and matured with the new knowledge that was brought forth by the Holy Spirit through this book. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask me.
THE TREASURE'S BENEFITS
1. Establishing His Promises:
- we need to allow scripture to shape our experiences, not interpret scripture through our experiences. We are getting this backwards.
- so many times, we make a request to him, bring him a need, remind him of a promise, etc. But then nothing happens, and we say, oh well it must not be in His will, and we stop there. We need to keep striving for what He actually says.
-it took Issacs's pleading, crying out and supplication, asking humbly and earnestly, then God heard. He is not listening to the Dear Lord, I need ..., but if it is in your will, if not ok, thank you, amen. Nope, that prayer is not going to cut it. Why? because it is an acquaintance prayer not a friend prayer, there is no intimacy there.
-James 5:16: The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Let's dig a little deeper: Putting in the work and power in an earnest, passionate, seeking prayer of the upright, virtuous, keeper; of God's commandments, the believer, he is the one that gains attainment of the goals/purpose of the prayer, the answer from God.
- God's word is established in heaven, he leases the earth to man but when 2 or 3 witness gather and make the request, he will now establish his word on earth for us.
- unanswered prayers come from wrong motives but the fear of the Lord keeps our motives in check.
-when we fear him, we can boldly pray and declare his promises or will to be done on earth and is will be established.
2. The Fear That Eliminates Fear:
- holy fear eliminates all other fears and anxieties because those that fear have his promise to be kept safe, Isaiah 8:11-14 this safety is protection, blessings, shelter, far from all, and all of this is in his presence.
- the only time God permit someone who fears to go through suffering is if it's for His glory
- confidence from holy fear, eliminates human fear (remain unafraid even in death or the threat of death, Phil 1:20-21)
- fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, this is what enlightens us with proper perspective of life and eternity.
- any fear in your life only identifies what you haven't put under the cross, you still own that area of your life.
- fear of the Lord leads us to surrendering all to Jesus, this gives us peace, confidence and freedom from fear.
3. Legacy:
- we are talking about a Godly legacy, How will it be viewed in heaven, did it build God's kingdom.
- Holy fear benefits our descendants, continues to bless us through them in this life and eternity, our children will be successful.
- God promises that your children will be mighty on earth
- they will have the promise of an intimate relationship with God.
4. The Most Important Thing:
- There is nothing in this world that equal the value of Godly wisdom Prov 4:7 getting wisdom is the most important think we can do and once found, Prov 3:17 it will guide you down delightful paths and all her ways are satisfying. Prov 4:8 If you prize wisdom, she will make your great (raise, lift up, be exalted).
- Wisdom must be discovered, Prov 9:10
- fear of the Lord is beginning- starting place.
-when we embrace holy fear, we have ever present, constant flowing counselor of wisdom that give us the ability to make enduring beneficial decisions.
5. Successful Living:
- those with holy fear wealth/riches, honor, long life
- the power twins are true humility and fear of the Lord
- (wealth/riches) the person who truly fears God will handle wealth properly and not succumb to the trap of covetousness, the purpose of wealth is to bless others.
- Fear of the Lord protects us faithfully away from the traps
- True wealth is not measured in money or possessions but in our ability to help others, Psalm 34:9-10
- (honor) Holy fears gives us nobility, transforms us into a person of dignity and honor Psalm 112:9
- proverbs 31 woman 31:25 she wears honor like a garment.
- Holy fear will lead the person to be greatly praised, because they radiate light, love and nobility.
6. Finishing Well:
- (long life) Fear of the Lord lengthens one's life: added years is more productive days, longevity is productivity
- Anthesis of the power twins True Humility and Fear of the Lord is Spirit of Pride and Spirit of Religion
- spirit of pride keeps a person from admitting they are religious, and religion covers up pride by its spiritual behavior
- pride blinds its victims from seeing clearly
- the degree of pride dies is the degree of a fresh vision of God.
- many have not finished well because of pride and religion
- 1) cling tight to true humility, 2) have utter dependence on Jesus, 3) make holy fear your treasure- do this and God promises riches, honor and long life
7. Finding the Treasure:
Psalm 128: 1-2 a person who truly fear God-
- abounds in joy (spiritual force founded in the Word of God, our strength vs happiness which is found in circumstances)
- enjoys the fruit of their work, enjoy life
- affects our descendants, the promise that our children will be successful

- Many Other Rewards: desires fulfilled Psalm 145:19, Faithful Friends 119:63, 74, 79, Healing for our bodies Prov 3:7-8, Identity Psalm 60:4, Direction in Life Psalm 25: 12-13
- Jesus is coming back for a Holy Church (holiness is perfected in the fear of the Lord)
- The fear of the Lord is one of the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, Isaiah 11:2-3
- 7 ways the Holy Spirit manifests, Jesus walked in all 7 but His delight was in Holy Fear.
- How to receive the spirit of the Fear of the Lord, simply ask but this is a deep cry from the heart Luke 11:9
-Prov 2:1-5 ask for a fresh infilling daily of the Holy Spirit, a deep cry with a diligent search
- Cry out for God's treasure, it will never perish, this treasure is our greatest asset. Jude 2:4, I Corth 1:8
