DLD- Galatians 5:14
Digging a little deeper:
For everything commanded: the ceremonial, civil and moral rules/ precepts are carried out into fulfillment when following this one order (from God): “Have good-will towards and regard the welfare of any man (regardless of race, religion that we live with or whom we have a chance to meet) as you do one’s own self.
Extra dig: If we got into trouble, we would gladly accept help, compassion, understanding in the situation. We are a person of self preservation, however we need to guard against being a person of just self/ selfishness. We need to look at the big picture. Love is the sum of the whole law.
God is not interested in works, rituals and ceremonies. First, He wants us to believe in Jesus, who he sent. Then with your faith, in doing works for the kingdom, to be an acceptable service to him: all he wants you to do is love your fellow man, that’s the work to do for him. How else will they see Jesus? Your actions towards them is your testimony in Jesus. He died in our place because of his love for us.
If God loved (valued) us one penny less than Jesus, he never would have bothered. So we must love, other people have the same value, they are just lost right now.
How does it look to serve one another in love? Comfort the hurting, instruction to the lost, bear with one’s sickness, help with every need that you can, encourage the fallen, obey your parents, have patience with your spouse and children, obey the government, to walk along side the hurting. These are just not good works but excellent works that are pleasing to Him. This fulfills his laws.
