the Journey- breastplate of Righteousness

Hi my fabulous Diva Sisters, Sandy here with week 3 of our Dressed for Battle Devotional series. Week 1, we talked about going on the offense and why we are dressing for battle. Week 2, we talked about the belt of truth: God is truth, the Word is revelation of truth and the truth sets us free.

Now we are getting ready for our breastplate of righteousness. Ephesians 6:14, … having put on the Breastplate of Righteousness. But first let's make sure we all are on the same page about what righteousness is. Righteousness is a part of God’s character. He is righteous, without sin or blemish aka God cannot sin. Now, we, humans are on the total flip side. Unrighteousness is part of our character before Jesus. We were born in sin. Original sin set up a huge divide between us and God.
If Satan can convince us through his lies (father of lies, same as what he did with Eve), that this divide will always be between us and God, we will never be good enough for God, we blow it every day, how can we do anything for God and His kingdom, why do we think our prayers would be good enough for our families and situations, we will always be blemished and guilty…. Ok I think we get the picture. If he can make us still feel unrighteous then he has made us useless and defeated in this battle.
But as a child of God, who knows the Truth and the Truth’s Word, and the freedom in the Truth, then we also know that we are in right relationship with God. Why? Because the Word (revelation of the truth) tells us so. 1 Peter 2:24, He Himself bore our sins and in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness. By His wounds you were healed.”
Boom, there it is! Through Jesus' sacrifice, He healed us and saved us from sin and unrighteousness, from death and the grave, from separation from God. Now, we can put on the breastplate which lies right over our heart...AHAHAHA!!!! Get it!?!? Protecting our hearts and allowing us to fight knowing that we are fighting in righteousness, right standing with God who will now always be with us in this battle because we are no longer separated!
I pray that this excites you, that you start to fill a stirring in your soul, that you are becoming the warrior your family, work, situations in life need.
