the Journey- Helmet of Salvation

Happy New Year sisters, looks like we are bringing in the new year with a bang. I want to encourage each one of us to spend a few mins every morning to pray for those in leadership.

So for our dress for battle devotional, we are on the last 2 wks. For this week we are looking at Ephesians 6:17a Take up the helmet of salvation…
The Roman helmet was the best made of all the armies. Most soldiers just wrapped their heads in cloth, leather or fur, some with animal bones. But the Roman helmet was made of a very heavy leather or metals. It has a chin strap to stay on, a visor to protect the forehead and eyes. It came down the back and sides of the neck, some down the cheeks. All in all it was not a wimpy defense tool.
The helmet of salvation is our relationship with God through Jesus, our savior, through His sacrifice. We are justified through salvation. This is bringing us in right standing with God. Satan wants us to doubt our salvation, doubt our relationship with God. When we doubt, we are ineffectual and easily defeated because we are questioning that salvation, that justification, we don’t know our true place in the Father’s family. The helmet protects our mind from doubting God’s saving work in us.
Romans 12:2 tells us to renew our minds, let God change our thinking and not conform to the world’s aka Satan’s way of thinking. When we keep our minds on God’s way of thinking, we will know what He wants to do in us and for us. There is no guesswork in our relationship with God and what His perfect will is.
So confidently wear your Helmets of salvation and boldly proclaim to the enemy, that situation, that you know who you are in your Father.
